Mechanical Pointing

The mechanical pointing system mortar pump and gun, a low pressure, high volume machine, light enough to go up scaffolding and small enough to go down tunnels. This powerful machine allows us to pump any standard mortar mix, traditional lime mortars and all types and grades of gauged masonry and cement mortars. The system is suitable for brick, rubble, stone and ashlar on all types of properties, domestic and local authority work, commercial and listed buildings. It has even been used for work on cathedrals.

We use local sands that match the colour characteristics of the original finish, but any colourants and other add mixtures may be added to the mix as required. All this means is that the repointing is finished to a high standard, on time and within budget. The system provides traditional lime putty mortars, coloured mortars, British standard mortar designs, positive fill of joints without voids which gives proven advantages over hand pointing and other methods. System trained operatives, appropriate depths of rake work guaranteed to BS 8221, Part 2 2000. Improved bonding of mortar to brickwork.

Health and Safety are paramount with our dust extraction system in raking out the joints.

We also specialise in masonry cleaning. Cleaning of historically important buildings is such a delicate job and can easily cause damage if done unsympathetically. Each contract must be considered individually.

Crack Stitching repairs are available, where masonry has cracked and failed as a result of ground movements, weathering or increased load or stress. Our system offers a structurally sound alternative as significantly less cost to mass underpinning.
